TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) – Iran has apprehended the prime suspect behind the assassination of the prosecutor of Zabol city in southeastern Iranian Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province.

The news was announced on Sunday by Head of the provincial Justice Department Hojjatoleslam Ibrahim Hamidi.

The suspect was captured in the city of Mashhad in the northeastern Khorasan Razavi Province, said the official.

The recent arrest brings to 11 the total number of suspects nabbed in connection with the assassination ,he added.

On November 6, Zabol Prosecutor Musa Noori and his driver were attacked and killed by two unidentified assailants on their way to work.

The attack came less than two weeks after fourteen Iranian border guards lost their lives and six more were wounded in an ambush by terrorists in the border region of Saravan in Sistan-and-Baluchestan.

The Jaish-ul-Adl terror group, which claimed responsibility for the shooting, had infiltrated into Iran from Pakistan and fled back into Pakistani territory following the attack.
